Canyon Road - Santa Fe, NM
After spending three days in Santa Fe with my son Boone, I was deeply inspired to get to the studio. Monday morning came, I packed lunches, got all the children in their places, and went directly to the studio. In my workout attire, no make up, my hair barely in place, I just had to get to the brushes.

Boone is a rare treasure of a ten year old - one that needs to see "a few more galleries before we leave town". So, I had a fair share of inspiration that was sitting in my vessel and him in his. This painting came out effortlessly as a response to the richness of the art, culture, beauty, and deep connection I experienced while away and celebrating Boone and his tenth year of life.
If you've never been to Santa Fe, Canyon Road is a narrow road strung with galleries that bend and flow with the windyness of the road - it's a hub of creativity. Boone and I felt right at home. On Friday night, we at a Thai restaurant situated towards the end of the stretch of galleries. As dinner wrapped up, we noticed that gallery lights we turning on, music was starting to play, and doors were swinging open.

We had serendipitously landed on Canyon Road for First Fridays.
It was nothing other than a gift from God to stroll Canyon Road with Boone under twinkle lights with the sound of banjos and guitars serenading us as we walked the dirt sidewalks and red brick roads. Together - just us two.
And, just like his Dad, Boone knew that music and lights, safety and closeness, are the prompts to dance.
So, on the side of Canyon Road, we did just that.
